Airnergy sponsors disabled sport

Radio4Handicaps

Airnergy, in cooperation with Radio4Handicaps is sponsoring web pages for all the athletes in the German Paralympics Team. In this way they will be able to make their successes and their sports more accessible to the general public in future.

Airnergy will take over the costs for the editing system as well as provider and server expenses, the editorial office of Radio4Handicaps will create the 210 web pages for the athletes.

To support the global reporting of Radio4Handicaps, Marianne Buggenhagen (9-time Paralympics gold medal winner, multiple world and European champion, athlete of the year in 1994) officially assumed patronage of the “Disabled Sport” project on 26 September at Radio4Handicaps at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens from which Radio4Handicaps reported live each day. Her statement:

Marianne Buggenhagen

“The new media such as Internet and Web radio have made an important contribution to the fact that disabled sport is noticed and respected more these days. This is also very much in line with what I want.

Airnergy also sponsors web pages for all the athletes of the German Paralympics Team. I and the other athletes think this is wonderful because we will be able to present ourselves to the general public in future.

To sponsor and support the project, I have decided to assume patronage of the ’Disabled Sport’ project at Radio4Handicaps.

I wish and would be very happy if we could find personnel and financial support for this wonderful project so that we can develop it even further.“

Many politicians and well-known personalities expressed their endorsement of Radio4Handicaps and its projects during the reports from the Paralympics in Athens in interviews and in personal discussions and have offered and promised their support in the future:

  • Horst Köhler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany
  • Karl Hermann Haack, Federal Government representative for Disability
  • Ute Vogt, Parliamentary Undersecretary
  • Gerda Pleitgen, Chair of Förderverein Behindertenhilfe e. V.
  • Theodor Zühlsdorf, President of the German Disabled Sport Association
  • Dr. Klaus Steinbach, NOC President
  • Prof. Walter Tröger, IOC Member and NOC Honorary President
  • Dr. Albert Spiegel, German Ambassador in Athens
  • Dieter Gutschick, Manager of Aktion Mensch
  • and many more

Airnergy is already looking at a Paralympics commitment in cooperation with Radio4Handicaps for Beijing 2008. Then the silver medal winners will also be sponsored with an Airnergy device to increase their performance and allow them to have an even better chance of winning gold.
